To encourage the use of electric vehicles (EVs), Albemarle County has added EV charging stations at the County Office Buildings.

McIntire County Office Building 

  • (3) Level 3 (62.5 kW) Stations
  • (5) Level 2 (7.2 kW) Stations

5th Street County Office Building 

  • (2) Level 2 (7.2 kW) Stations

Other local public charging stations can be located using PlugShare.

In July 2024, the County Board passed an ordinance to establish a user fee for charging electric vehicles at County government owned charging stations available for public use. Read more about the ordinance,
