Voter ID

Virginia Law requires all voters to provide an acceptable form of Identification at the polls. Voters without acceptable ID must sign an ID confirmation statement or vote a provisional ballot. You no longer need a photo ID

Acceptable forms of ID include the following:

Virginia driver’s license
Voter confirmation documents you received after you registered to vote
United States passport
Employer-issued photo ID
ID card issued by the US, Virginia, or a local Virginia government
Student photo ID issued by a U.S. school of higher education or a public or private high school in Virginia
Virginia Voter Photo ID card
Current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document with your name and address

If you forgot your ID on Election Day, you can sign an identity confirmation statement or vote a provisional ballot in the polling place. The election officials will tell you what you need to do for the provisional ballot to be counted.

Disability Services

Each polling place is wheelchair accessible.
Curbside voting is available for those who are 65 years old or older, or any person with a physical or mental disability.
Each polling place is equipped with a ballot marking device (ExpressVote) that is designed to provide voters with disabilities the opportunity to vote unassisted.
Each polling place has magnifiers available for voters to use.
Each polling place posts a phone number to call if assistance is needed.

Voters are also entitled to ask for assistance. If you need assistance, you may ask an Election Officer for help, or you may bring an assistant with you. There are some restrictions on who may assist you.
